In SoCal the return of the swallows to Capistrano is an annual ritual that heralds the end of winter and the beginning of spring. In San Francisco, we've got a similar way to mark the transition from summer to fall, only the local birds make a lot more noise as they zip through the skies.
Fleet Week is taking place this weekend in San Francisco, and as we write to you now, the US Navy's Blue Angels precision acrobatic flight team is making practice runs over the city, and the sky above is echoing with the roar of F-18s tearing through the heavens. It's loud, otherworldly, menacing, and inescapable, and it fills us with indescribable happiness.
Saturday will be the main event, however, as Telstar Logistics will launch our Wind-Powered Marine Survey Unit under the command of Cap'n Fred Sharples to gather sea-level reportage about the day's events on the Bay -- from the Navy's Parade of Ships in the morning to the Red Bull Air Races in the afternoon. Be there! Be there! Be there!

certainly is hard to concentrate on the matters of work when just outside my window there are F/A-18s. The clouds seem to suggest the possibility of the city in flames. Hmm, either adding photos to the comments is verboten, or I have no idea what I am doing. both could be true as well.
