NASA just had a close encounter with a comet.
NASA's Deep Impact spacecraft passed within 435 miles of Comet Hartley 2 yesterday, and like any good tourist, the probe had its camera ready to capture the excitement.
The result was images such as this, which provides a view of the comet's nucleus that's so clear you almost want to reach out to touch it.
