The Bay Bridge Construction Spectacle You Didn't Get to See

So the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was closed to all traffic over Labor Day weekend. That's a pretty big deal for the locals here, as a Bay Bridge closure is sort of like snow in June -- very rare, very disruptive, and always rather ominous.
The closure was required as part of the effort to build a new eastern span for the Bay Bridge, and it involved a fair amount of jackhammering, heavy equipment, and construction choreography. For a complete explanation of the work that was done, check out this spiffy graphic.
Telstar Logistics wasn't able to witness the effort -- we were drafted for duty on diaper patrol, alas. But our man with the hard hat, Bill Cendak, was on the ground and in the skies, and he's compiled a nice little photoset documenting this weekend's construction.
