
In San Francisco recently, we overheard a well-dressed professional with a slight Valley Girl twang utter a nugget of sagely travel wisdom. Her comment, transcribed verbatim, was as follows:
"As long as you have a map, a credit card, and a smile, I figure you can go just about anywhere in this world."

Great saying! I've circumnavigated the world and can say this is true.... provided you speak English of course. From the depths of India to the African savanna I have yet to travel to a place where they could not at least find me an English translator... he's usually the one typing away at the local internet cafe.
