Oh, great. Now I have to go home & re-read Gravity's Rainbow while listening to "V-2 Schneider" (off Bowie's Heroes album).

Unless, of course, Telstar promises to use this technology only for peaceful ends, as opposed to maximizing shareholder return.

When we finally get " a round tuit ", we will discover electromagnetic propulsion to launch a rocket SUV 90 minutes to anywhere on earth for much less than conventional airline jets. Of course, developing the launch facility will take some doing but it sure beats agreeing to be number two. How about trying harder to be number one?!
